Our San Francisco adventure was so much fun! Brit + Co sure knows how to throw an awesome event – the location for Re:Make wasn’t half bad:

Fort Mason, SF

Coming from Tight Quarters Central aka Brooklyn, an enormous space like this is a bit overwhelming. 92 vendors and lots of different making-stations made for a very cool market – I wish I’d had more time to wander around!

We set up our little Brooklyn HQ at a double booth with our kids / home and fashion goods. It came out pretty lovely, if I do say so myself.

I’m still half shocked we managed not to break any of Studio Joo’s gorgeous porcelain pieces in transit. We’re packing ninjas!

Snuggly Ugly’s cashmere dolls were a big draw for all kinds of people. A very tough-looking guy in his 30s held one and said “this makes me want to have babies”. I mean, look at these guys:

It was funny to see how many folks came by to say hi just because we were from Brooklyn. Lots of people who had lived here at one point and still had a lot of Brooklyn pride in them. We couldn’t help comparing the two – Brooklyn wins in public transportation by a mile, but San Francisco has an openness that you just can’t find in Brooklyn. You forget that the ocean is right there, while in SF it’s always present. Brooklyn wins in number of people on the street – it’s quite deserted in most parts of SF. Add to that a massive win in number of children, every time I spotted one I almost wanted to take a photo.

We had some really cool neighbors at the fair. I was psyched to meet a fellow doughnut obsessive, who has taken this sweet passion to an art form – April of Donut Galleria makes beautiful watercolor paintings, prints and notebooks inspired by the oh so round and soft treat.
